Sports News of the Day

The success of Rory McIlroy continues at the US Open at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Shooting a 66 (five under par) this morning to follow up his 65 shot performance yesterday to put him at 11 under par for the tournament and six strokes ahead of YE Yang for the tournament lead. McIlroy was at 13 under par going into the 18th hole, but finished the day with a double-bogey.
Other notables: Sergio Garcia and Zach Johnson (-2)-Tied for 3rd, Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, (+1)-Tied for 26th, Steve Stricker, Padraig Harrington (+2)-tied for 33rd, Lucas Glover, Rory Sabbatini (+3)-Tied for 44th.
Ricky Rubio finally made the announcement on his basketball future for next year; he is coming to America. Yes you heard it right, Ricky Rubio is leaving FC Barcleona in Spain to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves next year. I could not be any happier hearing this. Jonny Flynn, Kevin Love, Michael Beasley and Rubio? Give that team four or five years, and it could possibly be a threat in the Western Conference.
The Cincinnati Reds lose its first game in a three game series against the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2, at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.  The Reds took the lead 1-0 in the sixth with an inside the park home run by Drew Stubbs, but an RBI double by Jose Bautista followed by a two run home run by Adam Lind put the Jays up 3-1. A homer by Scott Rolen lessened the deficit to one, but it was not a enough.
Jo-Jo Reyes was the winning pitcher (3-5) pitching 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, and striking out five.
Mike Leake takes the loss (6-3) pitching seven innings, giving up three runs, and striking out three.
Game two of this series is at 7:10 PM tomorrow night with the pitching matchup being Brandon Morrow (Tor) vs Edinson Volquez (Cin)
