Dos Santos Dominates

The main event at UFC 131 between Junior Dos Santos and Shane Carwin was suppose to spark fireworks, and be considered a slug-fest that could be "Fight of the Year".
This fight may not have lived up to its possibilities, but did spark fireworks for one topic; the hype of Dos Santos.
Dos Santos (MMA 13-1, UFC 7-0) is now the number one contender for Cain Velasquez's UFC Heavyweight Championship after defeating Carwin (MMA 12-2, UFC 4-2) via decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).
The fight looked to not make it past the first round as Dos Santos knocked down Carwin and overpowered him with ground and pound punches. Referee Herb Dean allowed the fight to continue, and at the end of the round Carwin walked back to corner beaten and bloodied in "survival mode".  The rest of the fight proved to be the same, Does Santos simply outfought Carwin and won each round to secure his title fight date with Velasquez.
Can Dos Santos win the championship? I definitely think he can. Dos Santos has a crazy stand up game, and a solid ground and pound. Velasquez also is comfortable with the punch and was an All-American Wrestler at Arizona State. Velasquez is way more of a challenge then Carwin, because I think Velasquez is a more complete fighter, but Dos Santos has looked unstoppable in his UFC career, and he will obviously be ready for this tough task.
So what happens to Carwin?
Carwin is still a tough fight for any heavyweight in the UFC, he is just not on that same level as Velasquez or Dos Santos. A perfect fight for him would Roy Nelson, who he was previously slated to fight in January, but pulled out due to injury. Nelson is coming off a lost against Frank Mir, so that would be a perfect matchup. If this fight were not to happen, I would love to see a rematch from UFC 111 between Mir and Carwin.
The other noteworthy fight in this was Kenny Florian (MMA 15-5, UFC 12-4)  taking on Diego Nunes (MMA 16-1, UFC 1-1) This was the debut of Florian in the featherweight division and he did not disappoint; winning the fight via decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27). With Florian's strength and experience, this win did not surprise me.
With the win it is expected that Florian is already next in line to fight Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight Title.
Aldo has an MMA record of 19-1 and is considered to be the number three MMA fighter in the world pound-for-pound.
This would be a very exciting fight, that could help bring more attention to the featherweight division.
UFC 131 may not have had the most exciting card, but it did feature two number one contenders who not only look their best, but showed that they could soon be champions.
