NBA Draft Preview (Part 3)

With only six days before the 2011 NBA Draft, it is time to do part three of my preview. This player has been making a lot of noise in the basketball world through solid workouts with NBA teams and performing well at the NBA Combine. Critics still believe that he will not do well in the NBA, but Jimmermania contuines to grow. It is time to preview Jimmer Fredette.
Fredette is a 6'2 196lb point guard from Glen Falls, New York. He played at Brigham Young University (BYU) for four years and this year (2010-2011) Fredette averaged 28 points and four assists a game. He also named the 2011 Wooden and Naismith award winner, along with the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner. Fredette was named to the 2011 AP All American First Team as well.
Strengths: Fredette is what every NBA team would like to have; a pure shooter. He can flat out shoot from anywhere, even a little past half-court consistently. Fredette is a very dependable shooter who could definitely be a go-to-guy in late game situations. The fact that Jimmer is confident in his shooting is a plus because even if he misses, he is gonna keep on shooting, which is exactly what you want in a player. He is also a very good dribbler, that allows him to attack the basket, and draw many fouls . Although he loves to shoot, he is a team player who looks for the open man on the court. Jimmer understands the game and still desires to learn, reminds me of a true gym rat like Steve Alford.
Weakness: Not really a defensive player, cant be dependable as a stopper in late game situations. Not really an NBA point guard, because he looks to shoot first other than pass.
Overall Conclusion: Jimmer Fredette is an outstanding shooter who will keep shooting and nailing shots. He puts on a show for fans and is highly entertaining. Needs to improve his defense, but could be a solid NBA player
Jimmer Fredette Will go? At #12 to Utah. He is the home-town boy, since he went to BYU, and the Jazz would love to have him, the fact that the Jazz do have Devin Harris already might hurt his chance to land there, but I really like him at this pick.
Check out part four of my NBA Draft Preview tomorrow!
