McIlroy Leads After Day One

Rory McIlroy could not have started any better. Following his collapse at The Masters in April having losing a four stroke lead heading into the final round, critics did not know how he would handle this weeks US Open at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.
To be honest, I was not too excited about this year's Open because of the absence of Tiger Woods, who last week pulled out of the tournament.
However, after seeing McIlroy's performance today, I will be glued to the TV to see what he can do next. McIlroy shot a 65 this afternoon making his six under par outing lead the tournament by three strokes.
McIlroy's best performance in a major is when he tied for third three times; The Open Championship (2010), and The PGA Championship (2009, 2010).
If McIlroy has the performance he had today for the next three, he certainly would win his first ever major, that is if he does not break down like he did at hole 10 on Sunday at Augusta in April.
Other notable performances: YE Yang (68)- Tied for second
Louis Oosthuizen (69)- Tied for 4th
Stewart Cink (70)- Tied for 10th
Angel Cabera, Bubba Watson, Padraig Harrington (71)- Tied for 22nd
Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Luke Donald, Anthony Kim (74)- Tied for 63rd
