Derek Jeter, shortstop for the New York Yankees, had two hits against the Cleveland Indians in a 9-2 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. He now has 2,996 hits and is just four shy of 3,000.

The Home Run Derby held next week in Phoenix, Arizona, has its roster officially set. The Cincinnati Reds suffered an 8-1 loss tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
   Matt Holliday (2-4) had two home runs for the Cardinals, while Lance Berkman (1-4) hit his 23rd homer of the year. Ryan Theriot (1-4) and Skip Schumaker (1-4) both had doubles.
   Scott Rolen (0-4) had the only RBI for the Reds. Brandon Phillips (1-3) and Paul Janish (1-2) both had a hit.
   Jaime Garcia (8-3) took the win for the Cardinals; pitching six innings, giving up one run off two hits, while striking out four.
   Edinson Volquez (5-4) took the loss for Cincinnati; pitching five and one-third innings; giving up six runs off seven hits, while striking out three.
   The final game of this series is tomorrow at 8:15 PM at Busch Stadium in St. Louis with the pitching match-up slated to be Bronson Arroyo (CIN, 7-7), against Jake Westbrook (STL, 7-4)

Golf News: Tiger Woods will not be participating in the 2011 British Open due to injury. Woods has 14 majors, and did not participate in the 2011 US Open in June either.
